In 🗓️ February 2017, 26‑year‑old Kiran Rani from Juglan village, Hisar, Haryana, married 💍 Rohtash Saini of Siswal village — defying her family due to the inter‑caste nature of their relationship. The couple had solemnized their marriage in 🛕 August 2015 at the Sanatan Dharam Charitable Trust, Hisar.
Despite living apart during their studies 🎓, they remained in contact. But on the night of February 9–10, 2017, Kiran tragically died under mysterious circumstances ☠️. Her family hastily cremated her 🔥 without informing the police, claiming it was a suicide.
Suspicious of foul play, Rohtash filed a complaint 📄. Authorities soon exhumed the remains and collected ashes for forensic testing 🧪. A chilling note written earlier by Kiran revealed her fear 😟 — and hinted she might be harmed if she ever disappeared.
Her brother, Ashok Kumar, was arrested and later confessed to poisoning her 🍶. The court, relying on strong circumstantial evidence, ruled that Kiran was murdered in the name of so-called “family honour” 💔.
On November 29, 2018, a Hisar court found Ashok guilty of murder and evidence tampering. Just days later, on December 5–6, 2018, Judge Pankaj sentenced him to death ⚖️ — calling it one of the “rarest of rare” cases due to the brutal motive and betrayal within the family.
🔴 This is not just a story — it’s a reflection of how dangerous societal norms around caste and “honour” still are in parts of India.
